Title: Quantitative biology driven by data science
Abstract:
With the advent of microscopy, omics, and other measurement techniques, it is now possible to obtain large amounts of data in the life sciences. As a result, life science is evolving from a descriptive discipline to a quantitative, data-driven research field. In particular, live-cell imaging techniques using fluorescent proteins have enabled to visualize the temporal and spatial behavior of molecules in cells. Furthermore, optogenetics techniques have allowed the manipulation of molecular and cellular behavior to more directly demonstrate causal relationships. In this lecture, I will present several topics related to data-driven quantitative biology among the results of our laboratory.
