TITLE:
From Historical Documents to Data: AI for Understanding Human Mobility and Cultural Space

ABSTRACT：

How can we study human mobility and cultural space in periods before GPS and digital traces existed? Historical documents such as travelogues, diaries, maps, and timetables contain rich information about where people traveled, how they moved, and how they experienced different places. In this talk, I introduce our research on transforming such historical sources into computational data by integrating natural language processing, geospatial information, and historical transportation networks. I will discuss how AI can reconstruct past mobility, connect fragmented historical records across time and space, and support new ways of analyzing human movement and cultural experience in the past.
